City crews stay busy as sunshine returns
By:
Acting Mayor Herb Haun
It’s nice to finally have some sunshine after the extended overcast weather we experienced over the past week. Our mild winter has allowed the City street crew to stay productive, completing maintenance and repairing equipment that keeps our operations running smoothly. They’ve also been fabricating new illuminated crosswalk signs for State Street to help improve safety for our school children. In addition, crews continue using magnesium chloride (mag) to reduce black ice caused by snow or freezing fog, helping keep our streets safer for everyone.
The Recreation Department has been busy with a full slate of winter sports, including girls and boys basketball, indoor soccer, and women’s volleyball. It’s great to see strong participation and community support. Spring soccer registration is right around the corner, and we look forward to another active season.
I am excited to begin working with the new City Council members and appreciate their willingness to serve our community. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Sterling Blackwell, Mike Hopkins, and Marg Chipman for the time and dedication they devoted to the City of Weiser. Their service is greatly appreciated.
