Chip seal work progresses across Weiser, please watch for crews
By:
Mayor Herb Haun
The City of Weiser’s chip seal project is underway. While the actual chip sealing has started this week, crews have been preparing for several weeks by sealing cracks, sweeping streets, and removing or burning weeds and debris before the chip seal is applied.
We want to thank everyone for helping us by moving cars, trailers, and other objects off the streets when requested. Your cooperation helps the work move along safely and efficiently.
Streets scheduled for chip sealing this year:
West 9th Street, from Pioneer Road to Upper Road Wednesday, Aug. 26.
East Commercial Street, from E. 7th Street to 13th Street, Monday, Aug. 24.
East Galloway Avenue, from State Street to E. 6th Street, Friday, Aug. 28.
Park Street, from State Street to E. 6th Street Tuesday, Aug. 25
East Galloway Avenue is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, while the Middle School is out on Friday to help minimize disruption.
Please use alternate routes around streets where crews are working. There will be safety cones and traffic control in place.
Once streets reopen, please remember to slow down for the first few days and leave extra following distance. Loose chips can be kicked up by vehicles, and the new surface needs time to settle.
The final step will be repainting center and directional lines that are covered during the chip seal process.
And remember, school is back! It may take a few weeks for everyone – especially our kids – to get back into the routine of watching for traffic and thinking about safety. Fall sports are also getting underway, so let’s get out there and support our kids!
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
