Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation to participate in Idaho Gives to provide new scholarships to benefit students

Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced new scholarship opportunities for local students planning a career in the healthcare industry.
 The announcement comes in conjunction with Idaho Gives 2021, a statewide event aimed at helping raise funds for Idaho non-profit organizations like the Foundation, which exists to generate financial aid and support for Weiser Memorial Hospital.
 Idaho Gives, the state’s largest on-line giving campaign, kicks off April 29 and ends Thursday, May 6.
 “If this campaign goes well, we can give out some scholarships this summer to help students prepare for entering fall classes,” WMH Foundation Executive Director, Casey-Clark Ney told the Weiser Signal American.
 “We have a very supportive community and I hope we will be able to give out some nice opportunities.”

 Ney added that there are many and varied career paths in the healthcare industry.
“There are medical assistants, certified nursing assistants and lab techs,” she said. “There are a lot of different opportunities other than being a nurse or a doctor.”
 There are details that still need to be finalized, including how many scholarships will be available, how much they will be and how to apply for them. (Some of those questions hinge on the success of the campaign.)
 Ney said, however, that anyone seeking assistance for healthcare-related education is eligible to apply.
 Offering scholarships is one way of giving back to what Ney describes as a “very supportive community” that “gives so much to us” while investing in the future work force.
 “It’s a very competitive market and if we can encourage people to enter the field, it benefits the field and, maybe, someday they will return here or the surrounding area,” she said.
