Weiser band to present 'Tacos and Tunes' on Tuesday

After more than a year, the Weiser band program will be able to host their first live concert.
The community is invited to the fundraiser and live music event, “Tacos and Tunes,” to be held outside in front of the Weiser Middle School Gym on Tuesday, May 11 at 5 p.m.
Both the middle school and high school bands have been preparing the entertainment for the evening. This is the tradition for the last concert of the year, traditionally called the “popcorn concert.”
Instead of popcorn this year along with entertainment, guests should bring their appetite for tacos and all the fixings prepared by the band boosters.
This year, the band was not able to have their annual fundraiser band dinner in the Vendome Events Center, so this was the perfect opportunity to offer an alternative.
Tacos will be available individually for $2 a taco, or $15 per plate, which includes two tacos, rice and beans, water and a dessert.
The band has presented concerts on Youtube for Christmas, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, subsequent concerts, marching band competitions and festivals were all canceled.
Live performances have been limited to pep music at football and basketball games.
Director Jake Fortin shared that the band is very excited to be able to play live for their parents and the community.
“We’re really excited,” he said. “The students have been working hard, and it should be a great night.”
