Wayne Maurice Curtis

Wayne Maurice Curtis, 79, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away Aug. 15, 2022, surrounded by family in his home.
 Wayne was born Dec. 4, 1942, in Hartford, Conn., the eldest of five children of Earl and Virginia (Small) Curtis. 
 He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era aboard the USS Constellation, receiving honorable discharge on Feb. 8, 1965.
 Wayne was united in marriage to Cecilia Catherine Wolfe on Oct. 28, 1968, in Kent, Wash. 
 His career with the General Services Administration spanned three decades before he retired in 1994. 
 Wayne and Cecilia lived in Midvale, Idaho for 25 years prior to moving to Kansas City in 2019. 
 He is a member of St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Mo.
 Along with his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Curtis.  
 Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Cecilia; sons, Reid Curtis (Mario Costilla), Shane Curtis (Franci) and Cade Curtis (Teresa and her children); siblings, Sheila Towne (Jim), Michael Curtis (Linda) and Dale Curtis (Barbara); sister-in-law, Sherry Curtis; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  
 Wayne’s family members would like to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful caregivers and staff of Crossroads Hospice.
 Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at St. James Catholic Church, Liberty, Mo. The service will be live streamed and available to view on the church’s Facebook page. Interment with military honors will follow at 12 noon at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors.
