Volunteers needed for Weiser Community Pond cleanup

Partnering to ready Weiser’s Community Pond for the upcoming Idaho Free Fishing day, Indianhead Fly Fishers and the City of Weiser are hosting and inviting the community to participate in the annual Community Pond Clean-up on Friday, June 6, starting at 9 a.m.

 All are invited to join in the collaboration, which will culminate in a hotdog lunch somewhere around noon. The lunch is provided through donations from Falls Brand (Independent Meat Company of Twin Falls), and Weiser’s Ridley’s and Bi-Mart.

 Indianhead Fly Fishers are extending a special invitation to all Weiser Elks, who donated the dock at the pond and provides ongoing maintenance to it; Idaho Department of Fish and Game; Weiser’s Master Gardener group, who cleans up the garden area; and anyone and everyone that uses the pond or helped in any way to bring the community park to life.

There are multiple areas at the site where volunteers can focus their efforts. IFF encourages local fishermen to pick a spot where they would or do like to fish from, and adopt it for clean up.

 “If you are a dog walker, please help clean the area around the path you most often use,” IFF says. “If you use benches or tables for a lunch spot, you might want to help clean up those areas. If you use the dock, help the Elks with its maintenance.”

 Each of the special amenities at the pond welcomes additional care, including Billy Creek and Pat’s Paradise.

 “Come, help make them look better,” is the open invitation from IFF. “Bring whatever tools you might use at your chosen spot, and maybe a pair of gloves. The City of Weiser will provide some tools, and can help point you to a job area.”
