Lori Ann Uhrig
Lori Ann Uhrig, 53, died June 6, 2023, at her home in Boise, Idaho, from cardiac related issues.
Lori was born in Ontario, Ore., to Kenneth and Judy Uhrig on April 23, 1970, her father’s 38th birthday, joining brother Don at home on the family ranch on South Crane Creek, Midvale, Idaho.
She attended school in Midvale, being part of the district’s first kindergarten class. She played volleyball and basketball in high school, and was elected senior class president, student body treasurer, and prom queen.
She loved riding horses, starting out on Bonnie and Dot and later Graycee and Lacey being the two she rode on cattle drives at the ranch and showed in 4-H, winning numerous awards including Grand Champion Showman and a special
horse show congeniality award. In 1984 she was a Washington County Rodeo Princess.
She attended the College of Idaho in Caldwell, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor in accounting in 1992. She began working in public accounting and soon passed her CPA exam. She later attended the University of Idaho, obtaining a Master’s in accounting in 1998, then resumed her career in accounting in Boise.
Lori once gave her brother a pillow that says, “I smile because you are my brother; I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it.”
She hated miller moths. Somehow they seemed to gather in her bedroom, and they would flit around and make her jump and scream.
Lori was a creative and generous friend, whether sending confetti-filled birthday and holiday cards, crocheting potholders and flowers as gifts, or her latest love, painting ceramics.
Her sense of humor will be greatly missed, as will her signature brownies.
She was involved with the American Diabetes Association, Idaho Community Foundation, and the Women’s and Childrens Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father and uncles Dean, Glenn, and Bob, and is survived by her mother Judy of Weiser, brother Don of Boise, cousins Tony Adams of Weiser and Ray Uhrig of Denver, with whom she was especially close, aunts Janee, Mimi and Ruth, and various friends. She is missed beyond what words can say.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 8 at the Midvale VFW Hall from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to her favorite charity, the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, 720 W. Washington, Boise, Idaho 83702.
