Award winning western musician to perform at the Star

The Illustrious Onion Skins are working to make their beloved and historic Star Theater more available to the community for exciting and fun events throughout the year, with a fun springtime concert coming up April 25.
Coming this Sunday, singer Dave Stamey is visiting Weiser for his second year, set to perform two concerts in one day, the same show twice.
Onion Skins board of directors member Pam Lakey said Stamey’s performance last year was very well-received by the community, prompting the group to invite him to visit again. Stamey equally enjoyed Weiser and was happy to perform for the area again. Stamey, a country entertainer, performs ballad type music and will be performing two shows to allow more guests and COVID-19 social distancing.
“Nobody walked out of there last year thinking, ‘oh, what a waste,’” said Lakey. “They came back like, ‘when’s he going to be back?’ A lot of people from last year have already bought tickets for this year.”
On April 25, there will be one concert time at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. and a second concert time at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come early to assure the ideal seating arrangement. Guests are also encouraged to purchase tickets for the second performance as there is increased ticket availability.
During his previous performance, Lakey said Stamey played for an hour before taking a break and returning to the stage, with the break time being used to sell CD’s. Lakey said he jumped at the chance to revisit the Star Theater because he loved the receptiveness of the crowd and loved the theater itself.
“He’s a great performer. It’s just wholesome,” said Lakey. “He loved the Star Theater and he loved Weiser.”
Onion Skins president Lisa Meyer said the capacity of the theater is 300 people and the group is limiting each performance to 250 guests to allow the option of social distancing to individuals that are concerned but wish to attend. Masks will not be required. Tickets can be purchased online at illustriousonionskinplayers.org for $25 each.
If individuals would like to purchase a ticket at the door, they are encouraged to email or call the Onion Skins to reserve a place.
While Stamey’s initial visit to Weiser in 2020 was a standing room only event, the year’s events have caused new regulations to be implemented, giving the different opportunity to offer two concerts.
“We weren’t sure how many people we were going to be able to put in the theater when we booked him,” said Meyer. “We wanted to make sure everyone could come.”
