Weiser well represented on all-conference teams

Weiser High School’s winning football season didn’t go unnoticed by coaches in the Snake River Valley Conference, who selected a number of Wolverines for league honors.
 The all-team SRV Conference picks were released last week. The post-season team selections are made by the conference coaches.
 The 2019 season was coach Tom Harrison’s second year leading the Wolverines. The Wolverines compiled an 8-2 record (3-1 SRV Conference) and made it to the 3A state championship quarterfinals in November, where they came up short against Timberlake.
 The all-conference selections from Weiser include:
 First team offense: sophomore Brett Spencer, quarterback; senior Layten Tolman, runningback; senior Caleb Harris, wide receiver; senior Angel Magana, offensive line and kicker.
 First team defense: senior Matt Morris, linebacker; sophomore Brett Spencer, defensive back; senior Angel Magana was picked as punter.
 Second team offense: sophomore Jack Burke, runningback; junior Kooper von Brethorst, wide receiver; senior Tim Reed, tightend; sophomore Rylee Willet, offensive line; senior Nate McDaniel, offensive line.
 Second team defense: sophomore Willy Shirts, defensive line; sophomore Rylee Willet, defensive line; junior Dayton Turrentine, defensive line; senior Layten Tolman, linebacker; senior Tim Reed, linebacker; junior Kooper von Brethorst, defensive back.
 Honorable mention defense: senior Sy York, defensive back.
 Homedale swept many all-conference awards, including offensive player of the year (quarterback Daniel Uranga), defensive player of the year (linebacker Spencer Fisher), special teams player of the year (Nelson Lomelli) and coach of the year (Matt Holtry). The Trojans made it to the 3A championship game for the second year in a row, losing to Sugar-Salem for the team’s one loss.
