Weiser splits games last week

The Lady Wolverines were on the road last week for both of their games, and came away with additions to both the win and the loss columns.
The Lady Wolverines faced-off against the Ontario Tigers first. With every passing week, the Lady Wolverines have improved on their full-court press, their shooting percentage and their accuracy from the free throw line.
This game was a testament to that improvement, with the Wolverines shooting 40 percent from the field and 63 percent from the line, a large improvement from previous pairings.
The Wolverines jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Tigers 23-8.  Sophomore Maddy Erickson outscored the Tigers by herself with 11 points in the first and junior Marissa Moyle had nine points.
Erickson’s hot streak continued into the second period with an additional eight points. Moyle added a pair of free throws, and the Wolverines expanded their lead to 33-17 at the half.
The Tigers regrouped during the half and made a run at trying to bridge the scoring gap, but the Tigers’ 13 points were no match for the hot shooting of the Wolverines and their 17 points.
Leading 50-30, the Wolverines let up on the gas some, and the Tigers were able to score 19 points to the Wolverines’ eight, but despite the surge, the Wolverines took the game in grand fashion 58-49.
Maddy Erickson had an outstanding night with 27 points, but Marissa Moyle’s evening was nothing short of great with 18 points of her own and 5 rebounds.  Macy Moore shot 100 percent from the field for 5 points, while Abbey Shirts added 3 points. Sara Lundberg and Andrea Bouvia each had 2 points and Madison Phillips added a free throw. Lundberg also had a team-high 9 rebounds.
The Wolverines also had a rematch against the New Plymouth Pilgrims last week, and although the play was much improved from the last pairing, the Wolverines were missing Sara Lundberg in the paint and came up short, dropping the game to the Pilgrims 49-37.
Marissa Moyle led the team in scoring with 16 points, followed by Macy Moore with 7.  Maddy Erickson and Abbey Shirts each added 6-points apiece and Sheyanne Hilmer had 2-points.
