The bats were hot for both teams in the league match-up against the hosting Payette Pirates and the Lady Wolverines on April 22.
The Wolverines jumped out to an early lead with a walk for May Erke that was batted in by a long ball over the center field fence by Jakaela Ruiz for two runs while the Pirates only managed one run.
The second inning proved to be a battle of the bats resulting in a tied 8-8 game with Weiser bringing 6 Wolverines across the plate while Payette scored 7.  Erke, Branstetter, Phillips and Morris all found their mark with successful hits and Bittinger and Walker both made it to base on freebies and capitalized on the opportunity, both scoring runs.
However, the Payette hitters were also on the mark and despite strong defense and few mistakes, the Pirates recorded 6 hits and 7 runs for their at-bat.
Erke made it to base for the third time of the game with a single in the gap between center and right field, and Branstetter followed suit with a mishandled bunt, while Phillips was granted a free base on balls.  Tyree and Morris both had singles and Bittinger found her way to base on another bobbled ball, but with the bases filled with Wolverines, Tyree, Morris and Bittinger were left stranded at the end of the Wolverine at-bat, scoring only 3 runs.
The Wolverines struggled on defense in the third inning, allowing 6 runs off of 4 hits, 3 walks and 1 error.
With a scoreboard resembling more of a football game score than that of a softball game, the Wolverines trailed 11-14 to begin the fourth inning, and they pulled within 1 run at 13-14 from a deep shot to right field by Erke and singles by Branstetter and Ruiz to score 2 runs.
The Wolverine defense struggled in the bottom of the fourth, and the Pirates increased their lead 18-13 during their at-bat, scoring 4 runs off  2 walks, 1 error and 1 hit.
The difficult fourth inning placed the Wolverines in a precarious position, staring at a potential mercy rule if they didn’t get some more runs on the board, but that knowledge was of little help, as Tyree was the only Wolverine to score during the at-bat.  With a 18-14 lead over the Wolverines, the Pirates scored 2 runs during the inning.
Despite the Wolverine defense keeping the Pirates scoreless in the sixth inning with consecutive 3 fly outs, the hot defense was to no avail as the Wolverines were also left scoreless in both the sixth and the seventh innings, allowing the Pirates to take the game 20-14
Erke had a great game with 3 hits and 4 runs, followed by Branstetter with 3 hits and 3 runs.  J. Ruiz recorded 3 hits and 1 run, followed by Morris with 2 hits and 1 run.  Phillips had 1 hit and 2 runs, while Tyree had 1 hit and 1 run and Walker had 1 run.
