Weiser plays double-header against Buhl

The Lady Wolverines hosted the Buhl Indians at Weiser High School for a double header last Saturday, and with a beautifully warm and sunny day and a field full of spectators, the Lady Wolverines were able to add two games to their win column.
By the end of the second inning of the first game, the Wolverines led 7-2.
In the top of the third inning, the Indians went on a roll, batting through the lineup and scoring five runs, tying the game, while the Wolverines were held scoreless.
The Indians took the lead in the top of the fourth inning with another run coming in off of one hit and a walk, but a beautiful double play with a ground ball to Danica Lockett thrown to Macy Maloney at second and then to Mecarte Olsen at first ended the at-bat in grand fashion.
The impressive defense energized the Wolverines, and their bats were unstoppable. Fifteen Wolverines stepped to the plate and 11 came in for the run, including a three-run homer by Tobie Noyer. At the conclusion of the fourth inning, the Wolverines led 18-8.
The Indians had one more opportunity to stop the mercy rule, but two ground balls to third base thrown to first and a fly out in left field by Riley Roberts sat all three Indian batters down and ended the game for the Wolverines 18-8.
Game 2
The brief respite between games must have energized the visiting Buhl Indians, as they recorded five runs off three hits and two walks.
The Wolverines countered with hits by Morris, Noyer and G. Swank and a walk for H. Swank, but brought in only two runs, leaving them trailing 2-5.
The Indians continued to add to their lead, outscoring the Wolverines 2-1 in the second inning, but the Wolverines began to chip away at the scoring deficit in the third inning.
The Indians added one run, but hits by Noyer, Maloney, and Branstetter and a base on balls for G. Swank allowed Noyer, Swank and Maloney to score and inch closer to the Indians 6-8.
In the fifth inning, the Indians scored one run and the Wolverines scored two runs from Noyer and Maloney, but the Wolverines still trailed 8-9.
The Wolverines blew the game wide open in the fifth inning. The Wolverine defense held the Indians scoreless and 13 Wolverine batters came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth, and eight base runners came in to score.  By the end of the fifth inning, the Wolverines had turned the tables and took a 16-9 lead over the Indians.
Both teams scored one run apiece in the sixth inning and in their last batting opportunity in the seventh inning, the Indians scored one more run, but the deficit was too large and the Wolverines took the game 18-11.
