Weiser hosts first dual of the season

On Wednesday, Dec. 19, the Weiser wrestlers hosted their first dual of the year with Nyssa and Ontario coming to town.
Weiser faced off with Nyssa first, beating them 63-14.  Weiser has a much bigger team than Nyssa and definitely fills out more weight classes.
The wrestlers that Nyssa does have are former state champions and tough to beat. Weiser wrestled some hard fought matches to remain on top.
Individual results vs Nyssa were: 98 pounds, Jace Buescher won by decision 4-2; 106 pounds, Mason Strong won by forfeit; 113 pounds, Rafael Delgadillo won by forfeit; 120 pounds, Seth Harris won by decision 3-1; 126 pounds, Kooper von Brethorst won by pin; 132 pounds, Sylais York won by decision in OT 8-6; 138 pounds, Robert Sudderth won by forfeit; 145 pounds, Matthew Morris won by pin; 152 pounds, Brody von Brethorst lost by tech;  160 pounds, Trae Gluch won by forfeit; 170 pounds, Malachi Hoobery won by forfeit; 182 pounds, Paul Crawford won by forfeit; 195 pounds, Jesse Lockett won by pin; 220 pounds, Darrian Hoobery lost by decision 8-2; 285 pounds, Elijah Carter lost by pin.
After Nyssa and Weiser finished, Ontario and Nyssa faced off, then Ontario and Weiser took the mat.
Weiser beat Ontario 54-26 and had some really great matches that tested some strength.  Weiser seemed to gather momentum during the other match and came out alive and ready.
“We had a good talk after some of the matches against Nyssa and the boys answered the call against Ontario. We had some solid matches and got back to some fundamentals,” Coach Drew Dickerson said.
