The hot streak continues for the Weiser varsity girls golf team, which picked up another SRV Conference win last week at Timberstone Golf Course in Parma.
The Lady Wolverines finished at the top of the leaderboard with a team score of 199 for the nine-hole tournament. The Weiser girls ended the day out in front by 26 strokes. The Payette varsity girls were runner-up with a score of 225.
Weiser’s Sara Lundberg medaled for the third event in a row this season with the best score of the afternoon. She carded a 45 over nine holes. Fruitland’s Hannah Foss was three strokes back with a score of 48, and Payette’s Josi Grey finished with a 49.

The Weiser varsity boys finished in fourth place in the mix with a score of 196, just one shot out of third place and two strokes behind the second-place finisher.
The Fruitland Grizzlies, led by senior Jake O’Neil’s blazing round of 32, ran away with the tournament with a score of 143. Payette took the runner-up spot with a score of 194, followed by Homedale in third place with a team score of 195.

Fruitland golfers had the top four scores of the round at Timberstone. O’Neil’s round of 32 was five shots better than the next player. Three Grizzlies were knotted in second place with each shooting a 37.
Weiser coach Jon Lundberg noted some highlights: Caden Cramer started the first two holes a little rough, but came back and played well the next seven.  Elle Svedin, a freshman competing in her first tournament played well.  Max Kingsbury had a personal best round.  Sara Lundberg was the medalist on the girls side for the third time in a row.
“I am always proud of the effort our Wolverine golfers give. They always represent WHS golf, their families, WHS, Weiser and themselves so well,” Lundberg said.
