Weiser competes in tri-meet and places second

Weiser varsity boys and girls track teams put in a lot of strong performances at the April 2 meet in Payette. The meet was hosted by McCall-Donnelly. Several of the Weiser athletes posted personal record times. Both Weiser girls and boys took second place in a field of six teams.
 The boys scored 191 points behind McCall-Donnelly with 251 points and Idaho City came in third with 89.5 points. The girls earned their second place with 137 points to follow McCall-Donnelly’s 215.5 points with Idaho City earning 82 point to take third.
 Weiser varsity boys had three top 10 finishers in the 100 meters. Senior Triston Kautz placed second with a time of 11.90 seconds. Jedediah Wardle took eighth with a personal best time of 12.75 seconds followed closely by Daniel Clemmer in ninth place with at time of 12.80 seconds.
 In the 200 meters, Sam Ellingson placed fifth with a time of 25.59 seconds, a personal best for him. Chris Cornejo ended up in seventh place with a personal best of 25.77 seconds and in ninth place Colton Foster posted a personal best time of 25.79 seconds.
 Colton Foster, Daniel Clemmer and Levi Swank came in second, fifth and sixth respectively in the 400 meters. They all had personal record times, Foster with 54.96 seconds, Clemmer at 58.85 and Swank with a time of 1:01.21.
 Sophomore Brayden Walker placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.10. Freshman Ryndon Olsen came in seventh at 2:29.51.
 Weiser had one boy place in the 3200 meters. Sophomore Ben Hathhorn took third with a time of 11:44.59.
 Maddox Stevens posted a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.82 seconds giving him first place. Logan Rasmussen was seventh (20.75 seconds) and Lee Winegar was ninth (22.88 seconds).
 Weiser boys took the top two spots in the 300-meter hurdles with Brayden Walker in first (43.66) and Nick Swank in second (44.68). Logan Rasmussen came in seventh with a time of 51.06 seconds.
 In the 4x100 relay the Weiser boys team of Nick Swank, Chris Cornejo, Brian Munoz, and Triston Kautz narrowly edged out the Marsing team for the first place win. Weiser finished with a time of 46.84 seconds, which was only .29 seconds faster than Marsing’s 47.13 seconds.
 Weiser took second place in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:39.53. Running the 4x200 was Colton Foster, Chris Cornejo, Brian Munoz, and Michael Youngberg.
 The team of Brayden Walker, Brian Munoz, Michael Youngberg, and Triston Kautz came in first place for the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:43.02.
 Weiser was second in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:24.41. Maddox Stevens, Mason Grimaldo, Kasey Kautz and Ben Hathhorn ran the relay for Weiser.
 Three Weiser varsity boys placed in the top ten for shot put. Eve Sanches in third with 39 feet 4 inches, Jesse Lockett in seventh with 36 feet 1.50 inches, and Daniel Rodriguez in ninth with 35 feet 9.25 inches.
 Daniel Rodriguez was the only Wolverine to place in the top ten for discus with a sixth place finish at a distance of 104 feet 9 inches. Nick Swank finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet 10 inches.
 In pole vault, first place went to Sam Ellingson at 12 feet, third was Gabriel Rasmussen with a height of 9 feet 6 inches, and Kasey Kautz tied for fourth place with McCalls Adam Rushton at 9 feet.
 Triston Kautz took first in the long jump with a jump of 20 feet 9 inches, Jordan Watkins was second (19 feet 5.50 inches), and Michael Youngberg tied for fourth (17 feet 9 inches).
 Weiser finished third, fourth and sixth in the triple jump. Michael Youngberg third at 36 feet 1 inch, Brayden Walker fourth at 35 feet 3 inches, and Kasey Kautz in sixth at 33 feet 4 inches.
 Weiser varsity girls had one top ten finish in the 100 meters, Emily Christopherson in tenth place with a time of 14.77 seconds.
 In the 200 meters, Shelby Aldrich took fourth with 29.84 seconds, eighth was Shae Kunz with 30.86 seconds, and Sarah Sotelo came in tenth with a time of 31.89 seconds.
 Shayla Kelley was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:14.95, followed by Abigail Hall in seventh at 1:16.88.
 Weiser had four top ten runners finish in the 800 meters. Roma Walker in fifth (2:56.49), Emery Kunz in seventh (3:04.92), Ashley Kielhorn in eighth (3:25.47), and Leah Ankarberg in tenth (3:37.56).
 Roma Walker and Kiearra Hoobery finished the 1600 meters in fifth and six places with times of 6:45.38 and 7:06.94.
 Cassity McClain came in sixth for the 100-meter hurdles with 23.44.
 Weiser took second place in the 4x100 relay with the team of Emily Christopherson, Ashlyn Walker, Sarah Sotelo, and Reagan Doty. Their time was 55.54 seconds.
 A time of 1:57.11 gave the Wolverines first place in the 4x200 relay. Running for Weiser was Shae Kunz, Kate Davies, Reagan Doty and Shelby Aldrich.
 In the 4x400 Shae Kunz, Kate Davies, Emri Kunz and Mattie Shirts ended in second place with a time of 4:50.96.
 Weiser varsity girls were second in the sprint medley relay. Emily Christopherson, Reagan Doty, Kate Davies, and Mattie Shirts ran the race in 2:05.50.
 The Wolverines had five girls in the top ten for shot put. Third was Melissa Sandoval at 30 feet 1 inch; sixth was Ellie Eames at 25 feet 5.5 inches, Laura Sotelo at seventh with 24 feet 10.5 inches, Adrianna Keney in eighth with 24 feet 9 inches and Whitney Turner in ninth with 24 feet 3.5 inches.
 Whitney Turner took second place in discus with a distance of 72 feet 11.5 inches. Other Weiser girls that placed were Matlin Wolrey in fourth (65 feet 9.5 inches), Ellie Eames in seventh (63 feet 2 inches), Melissa Sandoval in eighth (61 feet 10 inches), and Laura Sotelo in tenth (60 feet 8.5inches).
   Weiser took third and fourth in the girls high jump. Mattie Shirts came in third with a jump of 4 feet 8 inches and Shelby Aldrich was fourth with 4 feet 6 inches.
 Reagan Doty was first in the pole vault with a height of 8 feet 6 inches. Shae Kunz came in fifth at 6 feet 6 inches and Sarah Sotelo was seventh at 6 feet.
 For girls long jump Shelby Aldrich took second with a personal best of 14 feet 10 inches. Seventh went to Ashlyn Walker at 13 feet 4 inches and Samantha Despain took tenth with a jump of 12 feet 6.5 inches.
 Mattie Shirts took third in the triple jump with a jump of 29 feet 9.75 inches and EllyAnna Huggins was ninth with 24 feet 1.25 inches.
