Weiser boys open season at Homedale

The Weiser High School varsity boys golf team placed third at the 18-hole season opener at River Bend Golf Course near Homedale last Wednesday.
The weather was typical for early March with overcast skies and cool temperatures. The course was in decent shape for the early season event.
Fruitland won the tournament with a team score of 329 over 18 holes. Runner-up Cole Valley was one shot behind the Grizzlies and grabbed second with a team score of 330. Weiser placed third with a team score of 360.
Weiser coach Jon Lundberg said the boys team score was a good start.
“We have a long way to go, but it is a solid start for the boys start of their season,” he said.
Caden Cramer led the Wolverines by shooting a score of 88 over 18 holes. Seth Thomas was one shot behind him and carded an 89 for the round. Rounding out the scoring for Weiser, Abe Konvalin shot a 90, Justin Estes carded a 93 and Caleb Harris shot a 97.

Nine schools sent varsity boys golf teams to compete in the Homedale tourney. The Snake River Valley Conference was represented by Homedale, Weiser, Fruitland and Payette. Other teams making the trip to Homedale included Cole Valley, Marsing, Nampa Christian, Ambrose, Liberty and Victory. Not all schools fielded a full boys team.
The Weiser varsity girls play a nine-hole tournament at their home course of Rolling Hills on March 20.
Both the Weiser boys and girls will play in a SRV Conference tournament at Fruitland’s Scotch Pines on April 3.
