Weiser boys and girls cross country teams place second at meet in Parma

The Weiser Wolverine cross country team participated in one of the larger meets so far this season in Parma. Weiser competed against Parma, Homedale and Payette on Wednesday, October 7. Coach Scott Hale felt the meet was successful for both teams.
“We were able to accomplish our goals for the week. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams got second place out of four teams so things are looking pretty good near the end of the season,” Hale said.
In the boys race, Dakoda Lamb of Parma took first place with a time of 18 minutes even. Weiser runner Ben Hanthorn was able to take second place with a time of 18:41. Parma took an additional six of the top 10 places.
Colyer Chandler was able to finish in 11th place with a time of 21:32. Colton Foster was only a few seconds behind with a time of 21:37 and Trenton Cook of Homedale finished in between the two Wolverines, putting Foster in 13th place. Charlie Woods finished 15th with a time of 22:05.
The results for the girls race were very similar. Parma girls placed in many of the top spots, with Weiser taking second place overall. Weiser had seven runners in the top 15.
Parma’s Angela Carpenter took first place with a time of 22:55, while Weiser’s Kendall Rynearson took second place with a time of 23:27. Emily Ambramson finished eighth with a time of 25:40, followed by Libbie Rynearson in ninth place with a time of 25.53. Nadine Chandler finished in 12th place with a time of 27:25. The next five runners across the finish line were Wolverines Kierra Hoobery (28:01), Ellie Eames (28:02.5), Taylor Wiles (28:02.9), Rachel Galligar (28:08), and Naomi Chandler (28:13) who all finished back to back within seconds of each other helping the team take second place.
