Weiser Activities Center for Seniors had a great Fiddle Week

I hope everyone had a great and safe Fourth of July. The fireworks are always so beautiful. I think it is my second favorite holiday, with of course Christmas being my favorite, not because of presents, but because of what it represents.
The center had a celebration ahead of time, on Friday, July 1, with barbecue and grilled steaks, potato and macaroni salads, veggie tray, dessert was root beer or orange cream floats. Lots of good fellowship and conversations.
Fiddle Week was a great time, with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. every morning. The menu consisted of pancakes, blueberry pancakes, with hot melted butter and hot syrup, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice. On Friday and Saturday, the main menu changed to biscuits and gravy.
This is  our main fund raiser of the year. It helps to keep our meals on wheels program going, so those who can’t get out for some reason or another, can have a good meal.
We also have a breakfast on the first and third Saturday of the month, with the Gem State Fiddlers playing.
I see from the menu, we are in for some great meals again this month. I believe we are the only Senior Center in the area to have five meals a week, and two breakfasts.
Payette Center has meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a dance and potluck on Wednesday evenings, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Ontario has a get together on Mondays, to visit and listen to the band practice. They get some dancing in then too. Also on Friday nights, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. a potluck/dance. We all stick together, and appreciate each other, and intermingle.
To all those who ask, I am feeling better, but it’s taking time and gas to regulate my meds.
Remember bingo most every Monday evening at seven, doors open at 6 p.m. Pinochle every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. cost is just a dollar to help with the utilities.
 Hugz till next time, Joanne.
