Weiser split up this past weekend with a few of the varsity group heading to North Idaho College to attend the Tri-State tournament.  Twenty-nine teams competed traveling from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana.  Weiser competed with just six Wolverine wrestlers who saw some great matches and faced some great challenges in the ring.
Wrestlers were able to compete in at least three matches, with some seeing seven total.
Kash Cobb took seventh place for his team and contributed 15 points to the team total. He wrestled seven matches, which is a lot in just two days’ time.
Kaleb Grove did well in the tournament taking second place and recording 23 team points. He won his first four matches and then lost in the finals to a Montana wrestler by fall.
The junior varsity spent some time as did the Lady Wolverine wrestlers in Elgin, Ore., at the Elgin Memorial Tournament.
This is a fun tournament where the winners win belt buckles and some bragging rights. It is a POD tournament during the first day and then each wrestler receives a seeding going into the tournament on the second day.
Weiser boys had 22 wrestlers compete and came in third place after Enterprise and La Grande.  Receiving sixth place for the Wolverines included Mickel Drysdale at 113 with 9 team points, Riggin Roberts at 126, and Bryce King at 175.
Taking fifth place were Wyatt Black at 106, Jean Paul Despain at 132, and Gage Walker at 138 with 13 team points.
Eric Ramirez at 106 finished in fourth place with 14.5 team points, as did Keegan Willet at 285 with 14 team points.
In third place was Santiago Perez at 150 who added 15 team points, Matthew Monterrosa at 175, and Kaiden Peck at 285.
Taking second place for the Wolverines was Telsyn Hawker at 175 with 23 team points added.
Taking home the belt buckles at first place for the Wolverines was Weston Black at 126 scoring 27.5 points for his team and Lucas Goff also took first at 190 adding 26 team points.
The girls also competed in the Elgin Memorial Tournament. The Lady Wolverine wrestlers finished in a heartbreaking second place behind Nyssa with just one points separating the two teams. It is important to also note that Nyssa had ten girls wrestling in the tournament compared to Weiser’s six.
Madilyn Jones took third place for the Wolverines at 145 and scored 13 points during her matches.  Audrey DeLeon at 125 and Samantha Kingsbury at 135 each took second place and gave their team an additional 15 points each.
Aliyah Alhilla was the first place finisher for the Lady Wolverines at 155 and contributed 18 team points to the total.
The Wolverines will take a short break over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays and come back on Wednesday, Jan. 3 where they will open SRV competition hosting Homedale and New Plymouth.
This is also slated to be Senior Night and there are only three home meets this season so come on out and support your Weiser Wrestlers!
