Track and field team takes second at first meet

The Weiser High School track and field team had their first meet of the season on their home track. Due to wintery conditions in McCall, the McCall team  hosted the event in Weiser.
 The tri-meet had McCall, Marsing and Weiser competing. McCall took first place in both the boys and girls with the boys scoring 98 points and the girls 95. Weiser came in second with the boys total team points at 66 and the girls at 55. Marsing placed third with 22 points for the boys and 17 for the girls.
 The top four placers in each event score points with first adding five team points, second receives three points, third earns two points and fourth one point.
 Maddox Stevens placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18:11 one second faster than his McCall hurdler. Weiser also had runners place third and fourth. Logan Rasmussen came in with a time of 20.52 and Lee Winegar placed fourth at 23.15.
 The 4x100 relay team of Swank, Cornejo, Swank and Kautz placed first with a time of 48.20.
 The boys 300 meter hurdlers had a good showing taking the top two places. Brayden Walker crossed the finish line in first with a time of 44.05. Nick Swank was right on his heals with a time of 44.27 and Logan Rasmussen rounded out Weiser’s scoring taking fourth.
 In the field events Nick Swank won the high jump with a jump of 5’10”.
 Triston Kautz led the squad in the long jump making his first place jump over 2 feet farther than his McCall opponent.
 Weiser was strong in the triple jump with Mattie Shirts jumping 29’2”. EllyAnna Huggins placing third with a jump of 24’1.5” and Daniela Ixta taking fourth at 22’6.75”.
 Individual results are as follows:
 Boys 3200 meters: Ben Hathhorn placed third with a time of 11:42.40 and Aaron Despain came in fifth with a time of 14:18.02.
 Girls 100 meter hurdles: second Cassity McClain, 23.25.
 Boys 100 meter hurdles: first Maddox Stevens, 18.11; third Logan Rasmussen, 20.52 and fourth Lee Winegar, 23.15
 The girls 4x200 meter relay: second place, Walker, Davies, Sotelo and Kunz, 2:06.41
 Weiser’s boys team also placed second with a time of 1:42.69, Youngberg, Foster, Kautz and Cornejo.
 Girls 100 meter Weiser had six girls finish in the top ten: Shelby Aldrich placed third at 13.94; Emily Christopherson, sixth 14.15; Melodee Cathey, seventh 14.39; Adrianna Kenney eighth 15.19; Isabel Odette ninth 15.30 and Neva Lavy tenth 15.61.
 Boys 100 meter: second, Triston Kautz, 11.70; fourth, Brian Munox 12.22; fifth, Brayden Walker, 12.23; seventh, Daniel Clemmer, 12.54 and ninth, Jaysen Walker 12.67.
 Four girls placed in the 800 meters: Roma Walker placed second at 2:54.87; Leah Ankarberg sixth, 3:33.06; Ashley Kielhorn, seventh 3:39.50 and Krista Feil eighth 3:56.24
 The boys 800 meters Weiser placed seventh through tenth. Ryndon Olsen, seventh, 2:27.98; Logan Stapleton, eighth, 2:36.46; Dylan Harris, ninth, 2:42.72 and Elliot Little, tenth 2:46.31
 The girls 4x100 meter relay Weiser placed second at 57.96 with the team consisting of Christopherson, Walker, Kelley and Kunz.
 Sarah Sotelo placed sixth in the girls 400 meters with a time of 1:12.69. For the boys Triston Kautz ran a time of 55.08 to take second, Colton Foster placed fourth at 57.25; Daniel Clemmer, fifth 59.10 and Brian Munz seventh, 1:01.45
 In the 800 meter relay the team of Christopherson, Walker, Kunz and Shirts placed second with a time of 2:08.72.

 Girls 200 meters: third, Shelby Aldrich, 29.45; seventh, Melodee Cathy, 30.81; eighth Sarah Sotelo, 31.27; ninth, Shayla Kelley, 32.18; tenth, Isabel Odette, 32.50.
 Boys 200 meters: third, Brian Munoz, 24.90; Daniel Clemmer, 26.03; ninth, Sam Ellingson, 26.10; tenth Colyer Chandler 26.20.
 Girls 1600 meters: fourth Roma Wlaker, 6:51.13; sixth Kiearra Hoobery, 6:58.49.
 Boys 1600 meters: ninth, Logan Stapleton, 6:21.86.
