Stella Beams first single to be released on Nov. 20

Stella Beams will release her first single, an original song titled “Wait for You” on Friday, Nov. 20.
Beams wrote the song “Wait for You” when she was first sent home from college because of COVID-19.
While spending a lot of time in her room doing her online school work, she was struggling with feeling the creativity needed to write. During that time, a very close friend of Stella’s was going through a really difficult breakup, and while talking to him about it, Beams realized that a lot of his feelings were something she had also experienced before.
Beams  took all the feelings that  she remembered and all of her friends’ feelings, and put together “Wait for You.” Because of their shared experiences, Beams said that the song just kind of fell together.
The lyrics for “Wait for You”  tell a story of missing someone so much, and wanting to wait for them and not give up hope, but Beams said there are other messages in the song, too.
She also said that while some people will listen to the song and hear a pop style to the song, others will definitely notice the influence of her folk roots.
“That’s my favorite part about music, you all can interpret it differently and like it for different reasons,”  Beams said.
Beams wrote the song by herself in her bedroom, recorded all of the vocals in the closet of her childhood bedroom and then her friend Luke Alexander helped produce it.
This is Beams’ first  single, and she said she does not really have a specific reason on why she chose this song first out of all the others she has written, but that it just felt right.
“I have so much more that I want to share. This is just the beginning,” Beams said.
Listeners can find Beams’ song by searching her name “Stella Beams” with the new song title “Wait for You” when it comes out on Nov. 20. Listeners can share it with friends and stream it as well as buy the single.
Beams has spent the last year attending the Berklee College of Music, and she feels that it has been a big year of growth for her. Not only has her voice gotten stronger and better, but she has also spent a lot of time learning the way music comes together, the theory side of music with the ear training side.
She has learned to write music for all instruments and she is in a songwriting and lyric writing class right now that has made all the difference.
“My writing has improved immensely. I have such a deep appreciation for artists and their work, and I listen to music in a completely different way now,” Beams said
Like most artists, Beams has had very limited opportunities to perform in the last year. She has really missed performing and finding gigs for the future is hard because of all the uncertainty with the virus.
She is focused on seeing the positive among the negative that has come with being home because of COVID-19. While she has had to move home from college and misses performing, all her alone time has also led to writing a lot more.
She is definitely looking forward to sharing it all when she is able to be with her fellow music students and friends in Boston again and to be able to have experiences to feed her creativity.
“Music has definitely helped me keep positive through all of this, and I think that’s why I want to share it with the world. Music is so healing and it brings people together, something that isn’t too common these days,” Beams said.
