P.E.O. Chapter T presents $3,750 in scholarships to five senior girls

P.E.O. Chapter T representatives, Cora Walker and Susan McCoy presented scholarships to five local senior girls. Academic scholarships were presented to Emma Jane Tolman $1,000, Ashlyn Walker $750 Memorial Fund and Libbie Rynearson $500 Memorial Fund. Trade/Tech School scholarships: Melanie Martinez $1,000 and Samantha Keith $500.
 P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization established in 1869 with the whole purpose of raising money for educating women. P.E.O. has Cottey College which is a four-year women’s college located in Nevada, Missouri, plus the following:
 A Scholar Award for women pursuing a graduate degree or engaged in advanced study and postdoctoral at an accredited university or college, $20,000 onetime award.
 Continuing Education Fund (PCE) provides need-based grants to women whose education has been interrupted and find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families. The maximum one-time grant is $3,000, though lesser amounts may be awarded according to available funds and financial need.
 Education Loan Fund (ELF) is for women who find themselves faced with the prospect of having to become the sole provider for the family. An applicant may apply for a loan in the amount recommended by her sponsoring Chapter with a maximum of $12,000 for Associate/Bachelor degree, $15,000 for a Masters’ degree and $20,000 for a doctoral degree. Over 30 Weiser women have received loans.
