Norma Jacks

Norma Jacks, 90, died Saturday morning, Nov. 11, 2023, at Weiser Care of Cascadia in Weiser, Idaho.
Norma was the daughter of Frederick and Marha Sapp and was born July 8, 1933, in Juliaette, Idaho.
Norma’s father was a minister and she and her three siblings moved several times as her father served and pastored churches in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
In August 1945, Norma was baptized in the Sandy River outside of Troutdale, Ore., during their church summer camp. She recalled this as a very moving and important event for her.
Norma met Keith Jones of Weiser, Idaho, and they married Aug. 27, 1950. They had one son, Rodney.
While in Weiser, Norma worked as an aide at the Weiser Nursing Home (now Weiser Care of Cascadia).
Norma loved music and had a wonderful singing voice. She often played guitar and sang for her church.
Norma and Keith divorced after nearly 19 years of marriage. Norma started a new life and became involved with the local Head Start Program in Weiser. She loved working with the children and had the opportunity to go to Lawrence, Kansas for training. After returning to Weiser, she started seeing Vernon Jacks of Midvale, Idaho. They married Feb. 21, 1970, in Winnemucca, Nev.
Norma and Vernon lived outside of Midvale, off Farm to Market Road. She volunteered in the Midvale elementary school as an aide and while working there, studied for and obtained her GED in 1988. She was very proud of this. Norma also sold Avon in the Midvale area and made many friends.
She enjoyed watching the deer in their yard snack on the apples from their apple tree and the Bee Martins that nested each year in a birdhouse hanging outside her front room window. She loved watching each year’s fledglings mature and leave the nest.
Norma was a kind and loving person, who loved her family and friends, enjoyed writing songs, poetry and stories and being in nature. She and Vernon were married 50 years.
Norma is survived by her son Rodney and his wife Susan, her grandson Chris and his wife Lindsay, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services were held at the Midvale Eastside Cemetery, Midvale, Idaho, Thursday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
