Lady Wolverines take home win at home against the Warhawks

The Lady Wolverines took on the Ridgevue Warhawks in Weiser on Tuesday.
 Ridgevue made their first point on a free throw by their quick point guard Sarah Means. She was fouled by Jenifer Juarez on a drive to the bucket.
 Mattie Shirts dominated the boards coming down with 16 total rebounds for the night. At about the mid-point of the first quarter she came up with a big offensive rebound and went back up adding two points.
 With 3:30 left in the quarter, Maddy Erickson had a steal and quickly drove to the basket. Making the bucket, her feet were taken out from under her by Means. Erickson hit the floor hard and slowly got up making her way to the free throw line where she made the shot putting Weiser up 7-1.
 The last two minutes of the first quarter were action packed. Jasmine Villa of Ridgevue hit their first basket of the night, sinking a baseline jumper. Next trip down she made a second in the same spot just inside the three-point arc.
 Inside one minute, Warhawk’s Means hit a three pointer bringing them within one point of the Wolverines.
 Weiser’s Tobie Noyer hit a jump shot to end the first quarter giving Weiser the lead, 11-10.
 The second period was a slower scoring start for both teams. With 2:18 left, Weiser’s Macy Maloney hit a nice three-pointer making it Weiser 21, Ridgevue 13.
 Weiser was playing tight defense and didn’t allow Ridgevue to score.
 With 28 seconds left Noyer hit a two-pointer giving Weiser an eight-point lead.
 Near the end, with only four seconds left in the half, Erickson picked up her third foul sending Jacee Thomas of Ridgevue to the line where she converted on one.
 Noyer was on fire and received the inbounds pass, dribbled to half court, shot the ball into the net giving Weiser a 10-point lead going into the locker room, Weiser 26, Ridgevue 16.  
 To start the third quarter with less than 20 seconds off the clock, Weiser’s Noyer picked up her third foul.
   The girls had multiple trips up and down the court with minimal scoring changes.
   Erickson received her fourth foul on an offensive rebound with 4:42 left in the third. Weiser was up by five points, 28-23.
 Applying a full court press, Maloney stole the ball, drove to the basket where she was fouled and made both shots. Weiser now had a nine-point lead, 32-23.
   Soon afterwards, Noyer picked up her fourth foul on the full court defensive pressure.
 Wolverine Brady Reed hit a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds left.  At the end of the third quarter, it was Weiser 37, Ridgevue 27.
 With about 45 seconds off of the clock in the fourth period, Noyer picked up her fifth foul sending Means to the line for a one and one where she made both.
 About a minute later Reed stole the ball, passed it up court to Ivy Morris who made a left-handed lay-in.
 Means hit a three-pointer to bring the Warhawk’s within 10 points.
 Both teams played strong to the end with good ball movement, tough defense, and fighting for rebounds. Weiser was able to gradually increase their lead. The game ended in a Weiser win, 52 to 39.
 Wolverine top scorer for the night was  Erickson with 19 points, followed by Shirts 9, Noyer 9, Morris 6, Reed 5, Juarez 3, and Maloney 3.
