Following an impressive win on the road against the Baker Bulldogs, the Lady Wolverines added to their win column with a commanding 13-2 league win over the Parma Panthers on April 10.
Hits in the first inning by Alex Bittinger, Kali Branstetter, Erika Tyree and Shalee Huggins, coupled with free bases for Ivey Morris and Madison Phillips, allowed five Wolverines across the plate to score.
Whitney Cordes started in the circle for the Wolverines, and despite one hit and one walk for the Panthers, Cordes struck out one and the Weiser defense handled the others, allowing only one run.
With the Wolverines leading 5-1 in the second inning, the Weiser ladies took full advantage of the Panther pitcher’s struggles in the circle. Four walks and a double by Branstetter to left field allowed the Wolverines to extend their lead by two more runs, as the Weiser defense made short work of the Panthers during their second inning at-bat and held them scoreless.
The Wolverines added a pair of runs from Bittinger and Phillips in the third inning, and the Panthers added one run to their tally, but that would be it for the struggling Panthers for the rest of the game, while the Wolverines racked up four more runs before the game was called in the fifth inning by mercy rule, 13-2.
Bittinger and Huggins led the Wolverines with two hits and two runs each, followed by Branstetter with two hits and one run.  Phillips had one hit and came across to score three times, while Tyree had one hit and one run.  Erke added two runs.  Whitney Cordes pitched all five innings for the Wolverines, allowing two runs off two hits, five walks and struck out four batters.
Weiser vs. Fruitland
After stringing together a pair of back-to-back wins, the streak came to an abrupt halt for the Wolverines in the home league pairing against the visiting Fruitland Grizzlies last week.
Madison Phillips was in the circle for the Wolverines, and despite two strikeouts in the at-bat, the Grizzlies figured out Phillips early and managed five hits and five runs.  Unfortunately, the Wolverine batters were not as successful with their bats, only getting to base three times in the 6-inning game, but were unable to get anyone across the plate.
The Grizzlies added three runs in the third inning and five runs in the sixth inning to take a 13-0 win over the Wolverines.
Phillips was the only Wolverine with a hit during the game and she also had two strikeouts and allowed 10 hits and three walks in her three innings from the rubber.  Relief pitcher, Whitney Cordes pitched nearly three innings and allowed four hits, four walks and had two strikeouts.
Weiser vs. McCall-Donnelly
Mother Nature has not been very forgiving to the Lady Wolverines of late, but things have been looking up, and they were able to make-up a game against McCall-Donnelly on April 13 that had been previously cancelled due to rain, and they were able to add another game into the win column.
Whitney Cordes, Kali Branstetter and Mecarte Olsen all had their bats working in the first inning, and both Cordes and Branstetter managed to make it across the plate to score on passed balls before the end of the at-bat.  Branstetter took to the rubber for the Wolverines, but the Lady Vandals quickly got her figured out and managed 3 hits, 3 walks and 3 runs, to take a 3-2 lead over the Wolverines.
The Lady Wolverines added one run in the second inning to tie the game off of a Westi Walker single.  A personnel change in the circle for the Wolverines resulted in the Vandals adding 2 runs from 2 walks before three great defensive plays stopped the Vandal scoring surge.
The third inning began as a slugfest for the Wolverines with Cordes driving one deep to right field, followed by a shot to left by Branstetter and a bobbled ball at second for Phillips had three Wolverines making it to base and in for the score, allowing the Wolverines to regain a 6-5 lead.
With one out, a Vandal hitter recorded a single, and Phillips loaded the bases with two consecutive walks, but she regrouped to strikeout the next two batters and keep her team in the lead after three complete innings.
The Lady Wolverines held the Vandals scoreless through the next two innings while they gradually kept adding to their lead.  Cordes and Branstetter both scored in the fourth inning from deep shots to right and center field, respectively.
The fifth inning had Aldrich and Walker adding another pair of runs to the scoreboard and pulling the Wolverines ever-farther ahead to 10-5.
In the sixth inning the Vandal defense continued to have difficulties with accuracy, and with only two hits in the inning by Walker and Olsen, the Wolverines scored 3 more runs from Phillips, Olsen and Aldrich as a result of 2 walks and 2 hits.  The Vandals chipped away slightly at the scoring deficit with two runs from 3 hits in the sixth inning, but the Wolverines maintained a commanding 13-7 lead.
Branstetter was the only Wolverine to score in the seventh inning while the Vandals brought 2 across, but it wasn’t enough to take the 14-9 win out of the grasp of the Lady Wolverines.
Cordes led the Wolverines with 3 hits and 3 runs, followed by Walker with 2 hits and 2 runs.  Olsen recorded 2 hits and 1 run, while Branstetter had 1 hit and 4 runs.  Aldrich had 1 hit and 2 runs, Strange and Anderson each had a hit.  Phillips recorded 2 runs. Branstetter pitched for one inning and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and had 2 strikeouts. Phillips came in in relief in the second inning and allowed 2 hits, 6 walks, 6 runs and had 3 strikeouts.
