Golfers host varsity SRV conference match

The past week was a busy one for the Weiser Wolverine golfers.
It kicked off with the varsity girls team travelling to Buhl to play at the beautiful Clear Lake Country Club on April 12. The team was represented by Elle Svedin, Gabi Palmer, Jasi Yraguen, Isabel Rodriguez, and Paige Johnson.
This was the first time these girls had played in an 18 hole tournament and at one of the tougher courses in Idaho. The scores that counted for the Wolverines were Palmer’s 115, Yraguen’s 115, Svedin’s 116, and Johnson’s 132. This placed the Wolverine’s in the middle of the pack, above many 4A and 5A schools.
This is a great tournament for the Weiser girls to play in. Over the years the experience they gain in playing at Clear Lake has been invaluable to the Wolverine girls team.
Monday, April 12 the WHS JV team hosted a Snake River Valley tournament. The Weiser boys were represented by Seth Caviness who shot a 57, Braxton Franek shot a 64, Cameron Thein a 55, Banzer Arnett a 73, Wyatt Erickson shot a 77, and Bryce King played as an individual and shot a 70.
Counting the top four scores the team score was 249, 36 strokes behind McCall’s winning team score of 213. Rachael Story was Weiser’s only JV girl player and she finished her round with a 78.
The Wolverines hosted a SRV varsity tournament on Wednesday, April 14. The event started off with senior night where Gabi Palmer, the lone senior was honored.
The girls ended the day in second place with a total score of 225. Yraguen scored a 52, Palmer and Svedin both 56, and Johnson a 61. McCall took first place for the girls with a total score of 215.
The Wolverine boys placed third with a total score of 182, five strokes behind McCall’s 177, and six strokes behind Fruitland’s 176.
Weiser’s Carter Williams shot a 38 earning him the second place medalist honors. Lucas Rynearson of Fruitland had a 34 putting him in first.
Willimas led Weiser with his 38, Rylee Willet came in with a 43, Devyn Young 48, Levi Estes 53, and Calvin Clapperton 63.
On Thursday, April 15, the WHS boys varsity team travelled to an 18 hole tournament at Purple Sage Golf Course outside of Middleton. The weather was beautiful making for a great day to be on the course.
Weiser was the lone 3A school matched up against some very talented 4A and 5A JV teams. Carter Williams’s dedication and hard work paid off again as he was able to finish with the low score of the day with a 74, only two over par, bringing home the top medalist honors.
Weiser finished with a total score of 373. Along with William’s 74, Rylee Willet had a 98, Devyn Young 99, Levi Estes 102, and Calvin Clapperton a 118. The Eagle Mustangs had the best team score of 319 earning them first place.
The Wolverine golfers played in a SRV tournament on Monday, April 19. Scores were not available at the time of printing.
