Dance Extreme 2.0 to send 8 teams to nationals in May

Dance Extreme 2.0 officially kicked off their season with perhaps the most important competition at the America On Stage Competition - Boise Kick Off Classic at the Nampa Civic Center on Feb. 15.
 Eight teams and three soloists attended the competition. All eight teams scored high enough at this first competition to be invited to the National Competition. 
 The first soloist, Ashlan Ward, a senior at Weiser High School, placed first with her French influenced routine and received not only first place,  but the honor of “High Gold” meaning she was the top dancer in her division. 
 Stephanie Becerra, seventh grader at Weiser Middle School also took first place with her contemporary routine and Ebbe King, sophomore at Weiser High  School, earned a first place award for her lyrical dance. 
 Three of the Dance Extreme 2.0 teams not only took first place, qualifying them to go to state but they also placed in the top five of their divisions. 
 Cheer 2, instructed by Weiser High School senior and cheerleader, Sydnee Reyes and her team of Tina Dodson, Ahnala Meeds, Cambria Maldonado, Jazlyn Lavy, Kaori Macdonald, Samantha Messersmith, and Kynlee Sylvia, earned a top five  and received a high gold overall award. 
 The Jazz team (Kendal Nicholson, Annalisa Aburto, Isabella Froshiesar, and Lillian Wiles) is instructed by Alicia Cavazos. They earned top 5 overall along with their first place award for their dance to “Dear Future Husband.” 
 Extreme Cheer team members  Atiya Perez, Ashley Kielhorn, Caitlyn Lynch, Kayleigh Frazier, Krista Messick, Aryssa Aburto  earned a first place award.  
 Extreme Project Pom routine,  instructed by Alicia Cavazos received a top 5 overall trophy as well. Members include Ashlan Ward, Stephanie Becerra, Emma Tolman, Kayli Sorensen, Ebbe King, and Chloe McKenzie. 
 Also qualifying for Nationals in the beginner division was “Barbie Girl” a beginner jazz team that is instructed by Candace Lynch. Members of the team includes Adalyn Sorensen, Hayley Bardan, Anya Boles, Khloe Goff, Olivia Froshiesar, Lucia Ramirez, and Khloe Butterfield.  
 “Team Beautiful” is instructed by Candace Lynch and includes Kaylee Harris, Stephanie Aldrich, Neva Lavy, and Madilyn Wiles. 
 Beginner - Hip Hop is instructed by Chadelle Huerta and includes Aliyah Swain, Lila Gray, Genesis Aburto, Claire Walker and Blakley Yraguen. 
 Cheer 1 is instructed by Sydnee Reyes and includes Camie Blair, Brookelynn Blair, Becca Dodson, Paisley Messersmith, and Lena Heller.
 The following weekend, the dancers once again competed at Dare2Dance also at the Nampa Civic Center on Feb. 23 and 24. 
 The studio won the overall award, judges choice and best entertainment. 
 Cheer 1 and 2 instructed by Sydnee Reyes took first place. Extreme Cheer under the direction of Alicia Cavazos earned first place. Extreme Project Pom and Extreme Project Hip Hop earned judges’ choice. “Beautiful” instructed by Candace Lynch only missed first place by one point at America on Stage, but earned a top spot at Dare2Dance. Barbie Girl, Future Husband, and the Hip Hop team all took home second place awards. 
 “We are so proud of our dancers for starting off the competition season so strong. Dance Extreme 2.0 was one of the top 5 Dance Studios at the competition. We are really looking forward to taking so many to National’s in May,” Cavazos said. 
 Dance Extreme 2.0 will compete in two more competitions during the season as they prepare to head to Nationals for the America on Stage competition at Lagoon  in Farmington, Utah, May 3-4. 
 Local fans of dance can support the dancers and see other amazing dancers here in Weiser on April 13 as Dance Extreme 2.0 hosts the “Starlight Dance” competition at Weiser High School.
