Class 2020 Graduation ceremony update.

Good Afternoon,
I am extremely excited to provide you with the details of our unique graduation ceremony that will take place on Sunday, May 17 th at 2:00 pm. I feel strongly that we have an amazing opportunity to participate in a send-off for our graduates that is sure to be completely different while respectfully acknowledging this important milestone. PLEASE consider your attitude and outlook as we navigate these uncharted waters together. This event will be as wonderful as we make it. The only way that we can make Graduation 2020 great is by keeping a positive attitude and focusing on what we can do , not on what we cannot do ! I encourage all of you to make a conscious effort to look forward with positivity and encouragement as we plan to recognize our incredibly talented seniors.
The following information should help everyone make plans with regard to upcoming events for our graduates:

Graduation "Practice" (drive-thru format)

Thursday, May 14 th beginning at 10:00 am (we will be available all day)
- Graduates will be able pick-up caps and gowns
- Honor Cords for National Honor Society Members
- Honor Graduate Medallions
- Senior T-shirt

2020 Commencement Ceremony

Sunday, May 17 th 2:00 pm Weiser High School

Parade format with 1 vehicle for each graduate, driven by a parent or guardian
- WHS Staff will be directing traffic and assisting with the pre-graduation line-up
- We cannot allow multiple students in a vehicle due to social distancing guidelines outlined in Idaho Rebounds provided by Governor Little

Typically, graduates are announced in alphabetical order, but we are going to let graduates line up randomly, so they can drive through the parade with groups of friends

Each student will be provided a large number card that corresponds with the alphabetical order of graduates that will be printed in the graduation program
- Each graduate needs to put the number in the lower left corner of their windshield so that I know who to announce

Each student will be provided a large number card that corresponds with the alphabetical order of graduates that will be printed in the graduation program

Each vehicle will stop at the stage, the graduate’s name will be announced, they will walk across the stage, their diploma will be awarded, a picture will be taken and then the graduate will reenter the vehicle and join the parade
- We hope to keep each awarding of diploma interaction to about 30 seconds or less, so that we can keep the ceremony flowing
- The awarding of diplomas at WHS will be streamed live by Living in the News over Facebook, so that everyone can watch ALL graduates receive their diplomas

- Graduates will follow the traditional Homecoming Parade route, concluding the parade on the East side of Weiser Middle School

At 3:30pm, a video of the formal aspects of graduation will be released via YouTube

- Welcome followed by National Anthem
- Opening remarks by Senior Class Officers
- Honor Graduate Addresses
- Presentation of Special Scholarships and Awards
- Closing by Senior Class President

Sunday, May 17 th 2:00 pm Weiser High School
We are asking parents and community members who would like to show their support to the graduating Class of 2020, to find a point along the parade route, while considering social distancing guidelines, to find creative, innovative ways to offer congratulations to all of the graduates. We are hoping for an incredibly festive atmosphere with people dressed in Red and White, playing music and posting signs of support in an effort to recognize our seniors for their accomplishments.

Les animo a todos a hacer un esfuerzo consciente para mirar hacia adelante con positividad y ánimo mientras planeamos reconocer a nuestros increíbles y talentosos seniors.
