City pool offers a place to cool off and more

With summer officially in full swing, the Weiser pool has opened for the season with water aerobics, swim lessons, and Weiser’s very own Dolphins gearing up for a season of competition.
The pool is being managed this summer by Abbey Shirts, a 2019 Weiser High School graduate. Shirts takes over this summer after spending the last three years as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
Besides working at the pool for three years, Shirts has participated in swim team since she was 5. She has also participated in high school swimming at the Caldwell YMCA.
“I have grown up at the pool every summer and it has become a second home to me,” Shirts said.
Shirts will join 12 total lifeguards at the pool. Shirts said they will work as a team to not only make sure swimmers are safe during open swim but also to teach lessons and coach the Dolphins.
The Dolphins practice every weekday morning from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and this year over 30 kids plan on representing Weiser in the pool.
Michelle Dolton is once again assisting with the little swimmers. Several lifeguards also are helping, and Sammi Lattin will be coming in most every day to help with the team.
The Dolphins will complete in Mountain Home, on June 15 at the West YMCA on June 22, on June 29 and July 13 in Weiser, and on July 27 in Mountain Home.
Shirts said that her favorite thing about the Weiser pool is that whether it’s through swim team, meeting your friends during open swim, or even through water aerobics, the pool is a great place to form great relationships.
Through her own experiences of meeting amazing kids and adults and through the friendships she has watched grow over the summers, the pool is a great place to be each year.
The pool is open 7 days a week, Monday through Friday. Lap swim and water aerobics are offered twice a day at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, lap swim is also offered seven days a week from noon to one.
Lessons are offered from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. There are three group lesson sessions offered through Weiser Recreation Department throughout the summer for $25 a child per session and many of the lifeguards are offering private lessons. Arrangements can be made with the lifeguards individually.
 Open swim is offered Monday-Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays open swim is from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Day passes are available for $3 for ages 13 and over, $2.50 for ages 13 and under, and $1.50 for ages 55 and over. Open swim is only $1 on Wednesdays. Season passes are available for $46 each for individuals and $189 for families of up to five members ($20 each additional family member) and $35 each for ages 55 and up.
Don’t forget that the pool can also be rented for a party. The cost is $30 an hour for 1-19 people, $45 an hour for 20-40 people, or $50 for 41-60 people. The pool is available for rental evenings from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
