Canada’s Double Portion will perform free concert at Cornerstone Assembly

Cornerstone Assembly in Weiser will host Canada’s Double Portion in a free concert/ministry on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m.
The group hails from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and is a unique group in many ways. This five-piece gospel band is made up of entirely one family, including parents Duncan and Debbie Hemmerling and eight of their 10 children.
Juggling homework and musical instruments is a daily routine for the Hemmerling children, riding across the country in Canada’s Double Portion tour bus for almost half the year.
Most of their adult children are still part of this ministry.  Their oldest daughter, Christina, will be joined by her husband Jeremiah Jost.
2019 marks the 37th year of ministry for this veteran group. Originating with Duncan and his three sisters, Canada’s Double Portion has crisscrossed the continent from Newfoundland to British Columbia, from Georgia to Alaska.
Three decades of travel have provided unique experiences like singing on the Grand Ole’ Opry stage, backing up Johnny and June Cash at a Cash/Rivers family reunion, and performing with many of gospel music’s premier groups at North America’s largest events.
However, experience has taught this family that the smaller things in life are often the most rewarding.
Canada’s Double Portion has been nominated for Group of the Year numerous times and has received multiple awards for album, song of the year, and live band of the year in the Gospel Music Association Canada.
Come and hear Canada’s Double Portion at Cornerstone Assembly of God, 515 E Court St. in Weiser. There will be an offering received to bless them as they continue on tour.
