Bonnie Loree Butera

Bonnie Loree Butera went to be home with Jesus on Jan. 15, 2025, at the age of 82.
She was born on April 14, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. Her family later moved to Southern California.
Bonnie married the love of her life, John Butera, in 1970. They each brought four children from earlier marriages into their blended family.
They had many fishing, camping, and hiking adventures over the years to Palomar Mountain, Sierra Nevada mountains including a hike up Mt. Whitney and to Mexico.
They moved to Weiser, Idaho in 1978. Bonnie worked at Weiser Care Center, Park School and Love, Inc. After retiring from the school system, Bonnie and John volunteered as camp hosts for many years, mostly at the Farewell Bend campsite.
Bonnie’s great-granddaughter said there are not enough words to describe her, that is true, but we’ll try.
She was a strong, beautiful, capable, independent, stubborn, and optimistic woman. She drew plans for an addition on the house in California, waterskied, traveled, did household repairs, and managed a large family. Her life was full of joy, love, faith, and some struggles. She loved music, dancing, plays and fishing.
Bonnie deeply loved her family. She is a constant source of unconditional love and support to so many. She was a generous soul and guiding light. Her family’s comfort is that she is with God in heaven and with her husband John.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father Wm. George McNair, her mother Edna Garlock, her infant daughter Kindra Lee Stewart, her youngest daughter Kimberly Ann States and her great- grandson Sean Crandall.
She is survived by her children; Rose Darice (Jerry) Wylie, Nadine Stewart, Yvonne (Everett) Evans, Mark (Debra) Stewart, Lynn Butera, Sheri White, Alise Boyd Lodge, her nephew David McNair, her niece Robin McNair, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. She was expecting three more grands this year.
A celebration of life will be held at Weiser Church of the Nazarene at 5 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2025. Please consider donating to Love, Inc of Washington County in Bonnie’s memory in place of flowers.
