Bands, auction, food and fun on tap at Lazy Bear Ranch on Saturday

A full day of free activities and entertainment at Lazy Bear Ranch near Weiser this Saturday, June 15, promises fun for all and a worthy cause to support.
The Tim Wrightman Foundation organized the event, and initially it was planned to build and race cardboard boats at Lazy Bear Lake on the ranch property.
Due to circumstances beyond the foundation’s control, the boat regatta portion of the fundraiser will have to be rescheduled at a future date, Wrightman said in a post on Facebook.
The good news is another band has been added to the music lineup for the fundraiser. The public is invited to take part in the food, fun, raffle and auction starting at 3 p.m. There will be games for the entire family. The kids zone will include a bounce castle and water slide.
In addition to multiple bands, there will be food trucks and a beer garden. All proceeds benefit the Tim Wrightman Foundation.
Former NFL player and Lazy Bear Ranch owner Tim Wrightman created the Tim Wrightman Foundation with the mission of promoting self-esteem and greater personal confidence in children through football camps and events.
The foundation hosts events for young athletes, allowing them to participate in a great day of football activity and an interactive chalk talk with Tim (and other professional athletes and business leaders). His trademarked HEART process (Hardwork, Enthusiasm, Attitude, Responsibility, Triumph) is taught and reinforced during these events.
In May, Wrightman and his foundation hosted the Champion Mindset football camp at the Lazy Bear Ranch. The camp benefitted 34 middle school-aged children from around the area. Wrightman was assisted by a couple of former NFL players and Weiser High School head football coach Tom Harrison.
Wrightman, a member of the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, grew up in a single parent home. His mom worked three jobs and extra money for football camps and other activities was just not there, he previously told the Weiser Signal American.
Wrightman attributes much of his success to the hard work of his mom and other mentors in his life that taught him the importance of character and academics. He created his foundation and this football camp to help kids in the area growing up in similar environments. He hopes that through this football camp the 34 young men were given at least a taste of that same inspiration.
Wrightman said he hopes the first football camp will grow into a yearly tradition and expand to multiple camps throughout the summer, including youth from all over the Treasure Valley and Upper Country.
Lazy Bear Ranch is located at 612 Unity Lane in Weiser.
