Arvid “Arv” Evans
Arvid “Arv” Evans, 81, of Meridian, Idaho was born at his family home in Midvale, Idaho in December of 1941 to Lillian and Othniel Evans.
He passed away from a heart attack at home on April 4, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Alice, eldest son, Daniel, daughter, Leah, and youngest son Eric, as well as his grandchildren, Tierney, Lily, Wesley, and Jameson, and his great-grandchildren, Hazel, and Levy.
He grew up in Midvale with his brother, Don, where he taught himself electronics and set up his own Radio Shack and built his own amateur radio equipment. He learned to play guitar and joined a group of musicians who became popular enough to be offered a record deal in Nashville which they turned down.
He went through several years of college but enlisted in the Army in 1966 where he served in the 1st Cavalry Division.
After his honorable discharge, he met Alice and they were wed in January of 1968. They had their first child, Dan, that December.
In addition to Arv’s growing family, he flourished in his career as well, working his way up through AT&T until he worked as part of Bell Labs, working for Sprint Advanced Technology Laboratories for several years, and in a variety of other Fortune 500 companies as management before eventually retiring and settling down in Meridian Idaho.
Whether it is his friends and family in Midvale, his coworkers at various companies throughout the years, his many friends around the world, or his descendants, his intelligence, knowledge, and odd sense of humor will be missed by so many of us who knew him.
