Hospital to update facilities masterplan

What Weiser Memorial Hospital will look like in five or 10 years is the objective of a master facilities plan the hospital is pursuing.
 Hospital trustees recently approved spending up to $49,900 to hire an architectural firm to do the overall plan. 
 The result will be a blueprint of sorts that will show the best utilization of space and services and guide any future expansion of the current hospital’s footprint.
 Hospital CEO Steve Hale said the hospital is looking at two potential vendors to do the masterplan but had not picked one. 

Hospital trustees approve spending $650,000 for new CT scanner

Weiser Memorial Hospital plans to update its imaging department with a new CT scanner after hospital trustees authorized spending $650,000 to replace the existing machine. 
 Hospital CFO Mark Christensen said the comparative numbers indicate buying a new CT scanner makes more financial sense than purchasing a used one. Earlier this spring, the hospital looked at acquiring a used 2010 model scanner for $160,000.  

City officials receive update on tennis court upgrades

Upgrading the tennis courts at Weiser’s Memorial Park would benefit the high school and middle school tennis programs and could also provide an economic boost by bringing tournaments to the community, supporters of the project said.
 Weiser High School Principal Dave Davies recently updated members of the city council on the effort to upgrade the tennis courts. He was joined by WHS tennis coach Angie Soulen and middle school coach Melanie Price, who are heading up the fundaising effort, along with parents and other members of the community. 

Cambridge business recognized with award for food safety

As part of National Food Safety Month, Southwest District Health recognized 10 southwest Idaho food establishments as Food Merit Award winners for calendar year 2017.
 Representatives from the 10 recognized establishments were invited to attend a reception held at SWDH’s Canyon County facility in Caldwell to celebrate their accomplishments. 
 In Washington County, the winner was Gateway Store and Cafe in Cambridge. The business is located just outside of Cambridge and provides food, groceries, gas, ice and propane. 

Shamrock Club Harvest Dinner

The Shamrock Club’s annual Harvest Dinner will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the historical Jeffreys Schoolhouse, 1818 Weiser River Rd. Dinner will include roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls and homemade desserts. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and 5 years and under are free. Homemade pies and raffle tickets for a Christmas quilt will be available.

Cornerstone Assembly of God Church will host their annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come enjoy fun, games, candy, free food and positive, non-scary family events.

The Weiser City Fire and Rescue will have their open house on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the fire department located at 55 W. Court St. Come enjoy free hotdogs and chili.
