Weiser Education Foundation golf scramble

Make plans to participate in the Weiser Education Foundation four person golf scramble to be held Sept. 15 at Rolling Hills Golf Course. Register by calling Carl Glarborg at 549-2653. The cost is $140 per team and hole sponsorships are $25 per hole. Sign-in starts at 8:30 a.m. with play starting at 9 a.m. A barbecue is provided and a 50/50 pot will be available for the golfers’ entertainment. All funds generated are used for the Weiser public schools innovative grants.

Let us never forget the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001

This is a week of remembering. I found an old T-shirt from 17 years ago. “United We Stand,” it reads.  Yep, stand!  
 I also have articles that state, “We Won’t Forget,” but unfortunately some have forgotten about  September 11, 2001. Most of us can still remember where we were when we heard the news of the tragedies and attacks against our country.  
 Many people lost their lives and families lost members to this horrendous event.

 Born in Nampa, Idaho to Ellis Esley Eshelman and Genevieve Ellaline Lembke. He grew up on a farm outside Kuna, Idaho and graduated from Kuna High School in 1958.
 He was in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, stationed in Germany. 
 He met the love of his life, Myrna Lou Bowers, of Weiser, Idaho, on May 15, 1963.
 They were married Nov. 15, 1963 at Weiser Church of the Nazarene. 

Robert A. Long

Robert A. Long, a long time resident, died on Aug. 22, 2018.
 He was born to Otha and Eva Long on Aug. 27, 1932 in Quinter, Kansas.
 Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Cindy Long of Washington, son-in-law and daughter Rene and Sarah (Cochran) Roque Mendez of California, grandchildren John Woodard of California, Desiree Taylor of Arkansas, brother Leroy Long of Oregon.
 Robert was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife Linda, daughter Anna, two brothers and five sisters.

Last farmers market of the season is Thursday

Weiser residents have one more opportunity to buy fresh fruit, veggies and other great stuff at the final farmers market of the year this Thursday in front of the train depot starting at 5 p.m.
 The number of vendors has increased over the past couple of weeks, from a low of four at the start of the weekly markets in August to a recent high of 13 vendors, offering everything from fresh veggies to baked goods to hot food to crafts.
